Sopaipillas
* 1 cup cooked pumpkin (butternut-squash) puréed
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 tablespoon baking powder
* 2 tablespoons margarine
* ¼ teaspoon salt
* oil for frying
How to prepare the dish:
In bowl mix pumpkin, flour, baking powder, margarine and slat: form into a ball, without kneading. Roll out the dough 1 cm. (1/2 inch) thick and cut out round sopaipillas. Prikc with a fork. Fry in hot oil until golden brown: drain on paper towel. Serve with pebre sauce or sweet syrup. Makes 20 pieces.
Wine suggestion: Riesling.
Milk preserve - Manjar blanco
* 1 (14 oz.) canned sweetened condensed milk
In large saucepan place unopened can of milk and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 2 hours. It is important that the can be always covered with water. Remove form water and cool before opening. Makes 1 cup.
Wine suggestion: Late harvest.
Avocado salad
* 1 lettuce
* 1 green pepper
* 1 avocado
* salt and pepper
* 2 tablespoons French dressing
